Power Generation Engineer (Starship)
Job description
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
POWER GENERATION ENGINEER
Join the Power Systems Engineering team at SpaceX to pioneer the design, build, operation, and maintenance of advanced power generation, transmission, and distribution systems for Starship's launch, production, propellant generation, and the city of Starbase, TX. As a power systems engineer, you'll work with a team to scale high-capacity electrical infrastructure for the world's most powerful rocket, ensuring seamless energy flow for groundbreaking missions. The position is based at Starbase, TX, with potential travel to other SpaceX facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, operate, and maintain the various microgrids that comprise Starbase, TX.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams; lead projects; and drive rapid, continuous improvements at Starbase launch sites.
- Be responsible for infrastructure upgrades to dynamically scale systems for Starship's production rate targets.
- Create and maintain sitewide power budgets, monitoring, and metering for mission-critical assets to optimize visibility and efficiency.
- Develop and execute asset strategies for high-power launch and grid infrastructure.
- Develop standardized designs for launch, propellant generation, and power delivery facilities.
- Performs detailed design on all aspects of electrical power systems: one-lines, three-lines, control/relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit/cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, etc.
- Develops and implements protective relay settings and schemes for high voltage equipment.
- Maintain organized design and asset documentation for all Starbase launch and power facilities.
